a tip a day keeps the disasters away!

3.) Put saline drops in clumpy mascara to make it come out better!

A tip a day keeps the disasters away!

Today I have decided to start a new series in my blog called " a tip a day keeps the disasters away!" I will try to post often, though it is hard with summer being so busy!! I will be posting tips about random stuff that I find helpful! Feel free to leave comments and suggestions!
here are a few to start off with:

1.) Use Vaseline as an alternative to makeup remover! Just put it on a tissue and wipe the makeup right off! For me, makeup remover is awful, my skin is very sensitive, so this trick comes in handy!

2) put on lip balm BEFORE you go in the shower. The steam in the shower helps it absorb in to your lips, leaving your them silky smooth!

Makeup haul!!

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great fourth of July! Recently I picked up some things for summer.
First off, at  our local CVS, I purchased these items:
This is a great foundation from NYC. It is super cheap, oil free and it covers blemishes very well.

I also purchaced this baby lips, I love the color and it leaves your lips feeling great!

Next, I got this talcum free powder that eliminates grease, and lasts for a long time!
I purchased this water proof mascara also. It really stays on! I was able to swim in the pool for hours, and when I got out, It wasn't even smudged!(Just remember not to wipe or rub your eyes)
Lastly, I bought this lip stain. Im not kidding when I say "IT NEVER COMES OFF" I ate, drank, swam, showered, and slept with this stuff on, and my lips were still colored!!!!

HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT SUMMER!! (;

Corn salad with queso fresco

Hi! I've been busy lately, so I haven't had the chance to blog in a while. Today I decided to blog about a recent cooking experiment I did. For a Spanish project, I was assigned a recipe to make for the class. Since the group I was in received the topic of Peru, I had to make a traditional Peru food. I made corn salad with queso fresco. It is a very healthy, easy and delicious dish! You can find the recipe here.

First, wash and dice the red pepper

Then, I cooked the frozen corn, ground up the onion, and minced the cilantro. After that, I mixed it all together.

Next, squeeze lime juice in to the oil. *optional** add salt

Finally, mix everything together and add the lime dressing. For an extra pop of flavor, add some freshly ground pepper to the salad! ENJOY!!! (;

Beauty Product review

A few days ago, I bought the Maybelline Rocket lash mascara. I had heard that it was good by one of my favorite you-tubers, Macbarbie07.  Click here to visit her homepage. I personally LOVE this mascara. It is clump free, and it makes your lashes look longer and thicker. Another thing I really like about it is that it makes your lashes look like you curled them. I would definitely recommend this product to EVERYONE!

Recently I picked up some Mabyelline BB cream at our local CVS. I have heard a lot of people talk about this product so I decided to try it out. It is perfect for covering minor blemishes. It also has 30 SPF protection, it has no oils, it is a moisturizer and it gives your skin get a healthy glow! I would definately recommend trying out this product. It is pretty cheap, and perfect for summer!

Ombre nails

Recently I tried the Ombre nail style using this kit. It was really fun and easy!
This is how my nails came out
  1.  paint a base coat with the lightest color
  2. you take the polish and spread out the design on a hard surface. ( I used an old plastic cover)
  3. dip the sponge in the paint (the sponge is provided in the kit)
  4. Press it on to the nail
  5. While it is wet, smooth it out with a clear coat
  6. take a Q-tip and wipe away the excess polish
  7. AND YOUR DONE!!!!!!
    I definitely recommend trying this!

TV Series review

I was so excited to see that the voice is back! I love this show, especially because my future husband, Adam Levine is one of the coaches. I love how the auditions are blind and the show is not based on apperance, but just the talent of the singer. I was sad that Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green left the show, but I think Usher and Shakira made a great addition to the crew. I definitely recommend this show for anyone...

 SO GO WATCH IT!!!!!!<3

Makeup!!!

these were the colors I used
The other day I was so happy when my friends and I got visited by a Mary Kay consultant. It was a lot of fun and I think we all learned very much! Today I am just going to share a few tips with you.
Tip 1: ALWAYS MOISTURIZE!!! You want to try to prevent wrinkles, and make your skin look really nice, right? Well this is the key.
Tip 2: Wash your face 2 times a day with soap. This is so important, it helps your skin feel better and it prevents blemishes.
Tip 3:  Eye makeup.
  • Mascara: I admit I used to do this until I found out the truth... never pump the mascara brush up and down, simply swirl it around for a second. If you pump it up and down, this can result in bacteria getting in to your makeup, and the makeup drying out.
  • Eyeshadow: Never wear only one color. You don't want someone to see your face and be like "whoa there, she is wearing blue eyeshadow". Instead, use about 3 colors. The first one, will be the lightest color, the second one will be slightly darker and the third one would be your darkest color(as seen in diagram above)
  • Eyeliner: Never apply eyeliner to your waterline! It could cause an infection! To apply eyeliner, close your eye and apply it from where your pupil is ... along the lash line... to the outside of your eye.
Blush: To apply blush, put two fingers on the side of your nose, use that as a guideline to show you about where the apple of your cheek is. Then to blend it, suck in your cheeks and blend along your cheek bone.

Feel free to leave a comment to let me know if this helped! Also I am open for suggestions on what you would like me to blog about in the future!!! Visit mary kay at http://www.marykay.com/antigua

DIY candle holder

The other day I learned how to make this really cute candle holder decoration from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugCJVhrdCK0 (Macbarbie07).
What you'll need:
This is an inside view of the candle holder
  • Spray on glue
  • a clear glass
  • a fake candle
  • glitter
  • vinyl cupboard liner
  • Marbles/stones

First, you cut the cupboard liner in to a shape... I used a heart. I then stuck it to the glass, this way, no glitter will get on to this part of the glass. Next, you spray the glue all over the inside of the glass. Then, pour in the glitter and swish it around. Lastly, you peel off the cupboard liner and put the marbles. Add a candle (a fake one that is) and you have a cute room decoration!
Its super easy and turns out great!

St.Patty's day nails!

So, recently I found an idea on pinterest on DIY glitter nails. I was super excited to try it and I thought, What better time to use gold glitter than on St. Patrick's day? ( You know, because it is like a pot of gold). So I tried it. At first, I didn't really think it was going to work, but it actually turned out pretty well! Here is the finished look...

 What you will need:
  •  a nail color for all of your nails except for your ring finger
  • some glitter
  • a clear polish (top coat)
First, I painted all my nails except for my ring finger with "Sinful colors happy ending".

Next, I clear coated my ring finger nail with "California nails top coat". While it was wet, I stuck the nail in to the gold glitter and made sure it was evenly coated all the way around.
Tip: make sure to add a top coat after you apply the glitter, other wise it will not stay and it will be a HUGE mess... (I learned that the hard way)

HAPPY ST. PATRICK"S DAY!!!!! (:
